Abstract

Objective To investigate the service needs of caregivers of children with febrile seizures (FS) and analyze the influencing factors, so as to provide a basis for formulating targeted intervention strategies. Methods A convenience sampling method was used to select 218 caregivers of FS children admitted to the Chuzhou First People's Hospital from January to December 2024 as the study subjects. A self-designed Caregiver Service Needs Questionnaire for FS Children, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7), the Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9), and a general information questionnaire were used for investigation. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to analyze the influencing factors of caregivers' service needs. Results The total score of caregivers' service needs was (55.11±12.14). The scores of each dimension, from highest to lowest, were: health information and education (11.41±4.27), home care and follow-up management (9.94±3.92), follow-up and communication channels (9.51±3.40), psychological support and emotional counseling (8.72±3.38), first aid and skills training (8.55±4.12), and social/economic support (6.99±2.28). Multivariate analysis showed that the child's first seizure episode, hospitalization, complex FS, highest fever temperature≥39℃, female caregiver, and lower education level were independent influencing factors for higher service needs (P<0.05).87.61% of caregivers obtained health information through the internet/social media, while only 29.82% had received formal health education before admission. Conclusion Caregivers of FS children have the highest demand for health information and skills training. The severity of the child's condition and the caregiver's gender and education level are the main influencing factors. Medical institutions should provide structured health education for specific groups and strengthen the supply of authoritative online information.
