The Mediating Role of Illness Perception Between Health Promoting Lifestyle and Quality of Life in Patients with Non-Obstructive Microvascular Angina Pectoris

Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between illness perception, health promoting lifestyle and quality of life in patients with non-obstructive microvascular angina pectoris, and analyze the mediating role of illness perception on health promoting lifestyle and quality of life in patients. Methods 98 patients with non-obstructive microvascular angina treated in Cangzhou People's Hospital from January 2024 to December 2024 were included as the study objects. The patients’ illness perception, health promoting lifestyle and quality of life were evaluated by the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (BIPQ), Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II revise (HPLP-IIR), and the Seattle Angina Rating Scale (SAQ). Pearson correlation coefficient was used to analyze the correlation of BIPQ, HPLP-IIR and SAQ scores in patients. The effect of illness perception on health-promoting lifestyle and quality of life in patients was analyzed by AMOS23.0 structural equation model. Results The BIPQ, HPLP-IIR and SAQ scores of patients were (42.37±5.84), (80.19±8.78) and (295.76±23.68), respectively. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the total score of BIPQ and all dimensions were negatively correlated with the total score of HPLP-IIR, SAQ and all dimensions (The r values of the total score of BIPQ and the total scores of HPLP-IIR and SAQ were -0.447 and -0.471 respectively, P<0.05). The analysis of the AMOS23.0 structural equation model shows that disease perception plays an indirect mediating role in the association between patients' health-promoting lifestyles and quality of life. The mediating effect was 0.234, accounting for 45.70% of the total effect. Conclusion Health-promoting lifestyles can directly affect the quality of life of patients with non-obstructive microvascular angina pectoris, and can also indirectly improve the quality of life by regulating disease perception.
