Effect of Solution-focused Brief Therapy Combined with Positive Incentive on Negative Emotions and Quality of Life of Patients with Breast Cancer after Radical Mastectomy

Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) combined with positive incentive on negative emotions and quality of life of patients with breast cancer after radical mastectomy. Methods A total of 98 patients underwent radical mastectomy for breast cancer in the hospital from February 2022 to February 2024 were selected. They were assigned to the control group (49 cases) and the combination group (49 cases), receiving routine nursing and SFBT combined with positive incentive nursing, respectively. All patients were given 3 months of intervention. Negative emotions, self-efficacy, internal needs and quality of life of the two groups were compared. Results Three months after intervention, the scores of Negative Adjustment Scale (NAS) in both groups were lower than before intervention, and the scores of Strategies Used by People to Promote Healthe (SUPPH), needs assessment scale, Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast (FACT-B) in all dimensions and total scores were higher than before intervention, and the NAS scores in the combined group were lower than those in the control group. The scores of SUPPH, needs assessment scale, FACT-B and total scores were higher than those of control group, and the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion SFBT combined with positive incentive can reduce negative emotions and internal needs of patients with breast cancer after radical mastectomy, and improve their self-efficacy and quality of life.
