Abstract

Objective This study was designed to observe the impacts of the motor vehicle exhausts to airway hyperresponsiveness in rats. Methods 30 Wister rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: normal control group; exhausts inhalation group for two days, four days, six days and eight days, 6 rats in each group on average. Rodent ventilator and the technology of HE and PAS stainings were used to observe the airway responsiveness in the lungs, the metaplasia of goblet cells index, the epithelial mucous reserve index, the amount of inflammatory cells. Results With the time of exhausts inhalation extension, the airway hyperresponsiveness is becoming more evident, while the amount of secretions of the airway mucus is increased rapidly; the airway inflammation is become serious evidently. Conclusion The results given above reveal that the airway hyperresponsiveness could be incurred and exacerbated through inhaling the motor vehicle exhausts.
