Abstract Objective To explore the effect and mechanism of social support on sleep and depression in patients recovering from COVID-19, in order to provide a reference for improving sleep and depression in patients recovering from COVID-19. Methods The convenience sampling method was used to select 120 COVID-19 patients who donated convalescence plasma in Changsha, Hunan Province between January 2022 and July 2022. The investigation used a general information questionnaire, a social support scale, a self-rating anxiety scale, the Pittsburgh Sleep Scale, and a patient health questionnaire and 120 valid questionnaires were obtained. The mplus 8.7 structural equation model was used to investigate how anxiety affects social support, sleep, and depression. Results Result Anxiety, insomnia, and depression were all common among the patients. Anxiety was associated with poor sleep and depression. Anxiety was negatively correlated with social support; social support influences sleep and depression via anxiety’s mediating role. Conclusion Social support can help COVID-19 patients sleep better and feel better.
