Abstract Objective To analyze the relationship between hypoglycemic fear, emotional intelligence and resilience in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods 186 patients with T2DM who experienced hypoglycemia were randomly selected from the Endocrinology Department of Hunan Provincial People's Hospital from April 2021 to April 2022. Questionnaires for general information, hypoglycemia fear scale II (CHFS II), emotional intelligence scale (WLEIS) and psychological resilience scale (CD-RISC) were distributed to the research subjects to investigate the general information, hypoglycemia fear, emotional intelligence of the patients, psychological resilience. To analyze the correlation of hypoglycemia fear with emotional intelligence and psychological resilience in T2DM patients. Results The total scores of CHFSⅡ, WLEIS and CD-RISC of 186 T2DM patients were (45.05±7.49), (60.68±7.15), and (53.38±6.73), respectively. The scores of CHFS Ⅱ, WLEIS and CD-RISC scales of T2DM patients with different age, education, work status and course of disease were significantly different (P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that T2DM patients' emotional control score (r=-0.534), self-emotional perception score (r=-0.581), emotional use score (r=-0.521), others' emotional perception score (r=-0.489), WLEIS total score (r=-0.545), tenacity score (r=-0.583), optimism score (r=-0.562), strength score (r=-0.541) The total score of CD-RISC (r=- 0.568) was negatively correlated with the total score of CHFS II (P<0.05). The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, education level, course of disease, WLEIS total score and CD-RISC total score were the influencing factors of hypoglycemic fear in T2DM patients (P<0.05). Conclusion The T2DM patients admitted to our hospital have different degrees of fear of hypoglycemia, and both emotional intelligence and psychological resilience are related to it. By improving the level of emotional intelligence and psychological resilience, the fear of hypoglycemia in T2DM patients can be improved.
