Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of group psychological intervention on disease cognition and stress response in elderly patients undergoing laryngeal cancer surgery. Methods 102 elderly patients with laryngeal cancer surgery who were hospitalized in department of otolaryngology of the hospital were selected between January 2023 and March 2023 and were randomly divided into control group and treatment group. The disease cognition degree, psychological resilience, self-perceived burden, social support and coping styles were compared between the two groups. Results The disease cognition degree in treatment group after intervention was higher than that in control group. After intervention, the scores of psychological resilience scale were higher in treatment group than those in control group. After intervention, the score of self-perceived burden scale in treatment group was lower compared with that in control group. The scores of perceived social support scale after intervention in treatment group were higher compared with those in control group. After intervention, the facing score of Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire in treatment group was higher while the scores of yielding and avoidance were lower than those in control group. Conclusion Group psychological intervention can improve the disease cognition degree, enhance the psychological resilience, reduce the self-perceived burden, strengthen the social support degree, and enhance the confidence of facing positively of elderly patients with laryngeal cancer surgery.
