Abstract Objective This study aims to investigate the effect of milk on the incidence of allergic rhinitis (AR). Methods English literature on the relationship between milk and AR from 2001 to 2019 was selected in PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library. Literature was screened and quality score and data extraction were performed on the final literature. Stata 12.0 statistical software was used for meta-analysis. Results A total of 12 studies and 165, 966 patients were included. Milk intake was associated with AR (RR=1.05, 95% CI: 1.01-1.09), and subgroup results showed that milk intake increased the incidence of AR in Asian children (RR=1.24, 95% CI: 1.04-1.4 4) and in children older than seven years (RR=1.25, 95% CI: 1.05-1.46). Begg's (P=0.950) and Egger's (P=0.782) indicated that the relevant studies did not show publication bias. Conclusion The results of this study suggest that intake of milk is associated with an increased incidence of AR, but further studies are needed to confirm this.
