Abstract Objective To explore the level of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in Changsha’s early pregnant women and the influencing factors of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances, providing the prenatal care and evidence of concentration of PFAS in pregnant women. Method From among pregnant women who underwent prenatal examinations at Changsha Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Hunan Province in 2022, we selected participants for a questionnaire survey and blood sample testing. We collected pregnancy-related information, performed a descriptive analysis of PFAS concentration, and conducted a multiple linear regression analysis to identify factors that affect PFAS concentration. Results 23 PFAS were detected in the serum of pregnant women in Changsha, among which 10 compounds had a detection rate of 100%, and 13 compounds had a detection rate exceeding 90%. The median concentration of total PSASs was 7.572 9 ng/mL. The median concentrations of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluoro-n-octanoic acid (PFOA) were 2.369 6 ng/mL and 1.773 8 ng/mL. The multiple linear regression results showed that smoking, age, residence cleaning frequency, drinking and gravidity were the influencing factors of PFAS concentration. Conclusion The concentration of PFAS of pregnant women in Changsha is similar to that of other inland cities. The positive correlation factors affecting the level of PFAS are smoking, age and residence cleaning frequency; the negative correlation factor is drinking and gravidity.
